PHILADELPHIA, PA—(September 17, 2019) —Today, Philadelphia Zoo announced the opening date for LumiNature, a fantastical holiday-season light experience that will transform the Zoo, taking guests on a magical journey of lights, music, sounds and surprises…..all designed to inspire and delight each and every night.
In the works for more than two years, LumiNature, a $3.5 million investment, will transform the Zoo from its daytime magic into a winter wonderland, immersing guests in a joyous multi-media light and music extravaganza. “LumiNature is made possible by the generous support of key supporters excited to bring this one-of-a-kind spectacular to the Zoo and to our great region,” says Amy Shearer, Philadelphia Zoo’s Chief Marketing Officer.
LumiNature, will inspire a sense of wonder and connection as big cats and peacocks come alive, flamingos flock together on a 25’ tree, a 35’ polar bear shares the magnificence of our planet and all four seasons host their very own party….all with the artistry of lights, media, sound and nature itself. Featuring more than 600,000 lights, 6.5 miles of power cord, 500 illuminated flamingos, 200 lit penguins, 45 completely custom LED light structures, a 21ft snake……LumiNature is set to be the most unique and memorable holiday-season light extravaganza in the region.

Philadelphia Zoo teamed up with Oak Island Creative, an industry leader in bringing award-winning and innovative experiences to life to create this one-of-a-kind event. “Oak Island Creative is proud to collaborate with Philadelphia Zoo to create something so unique.
