Adults 18 years and over with developmental disabilities are invited to dance and party at Southeast Christian Church on Friday, October 12th for this year’s SHINE! “Fun in the Sun” is this year’s casual theme.
Shine is a prom type event for adults with developmental disabilities. It is free to anyone 18 or older. People who need assistance are given an Escort for the evening to enjoy the activities together, and provide support as needed. Dinner, Bingo, Karaoke, a Salon and much more is included in the evening. Parents are encouraged to use this evening for a date night or just get away for a few hours. Those who would like to stay may enjoy a room just for parents or caregivers.
The hope is that guests enjoy an evening full of friends and fun, that they feel valued and honored, that this is a night to remember, and most importantly that they know how much they are loved by God.
This year Shine is a Beach Party! Guests are encouraged to wear modest casual attire. Shorts, Hawaiian shirts, flowered skirts, t-shirts and jeans are all appropriate outfits for the evening.
